viserys doesnt have a younger sister. but he does have daemon. and since their mother is dead and baelon refuses to remarry, thats the closest hell ever get. viserys would believe that even though daemon isnt a girl, he was still Made for him. still Belongs to him in that same way. and after alyssa dies, he steps into the role of daemons mother (cause even though baelon loves his sons, raising children is a Womans role. and now viserys is doing that boymom emotional incest on top of the targ incest) and grooms him in the same way he was groomed, that alyssa was groomed, that alysanne was groomed. so daemon gets raised believing he was supposed to be viserys wife, that if either of them had been a girl that they wouldve been the ultimate targaryen brother/sister power couple. maybe even believes that he 'failed' viserys in a way by not being a girl. they Should have been together. but they cant be, because theyre both boys.

except they arent exactly. they both have a weird gender fuckery going on that makes it hard for them to fit into the roles assigned to them by society. (viserys is a boygirl, daemon is a girlboy. no i wont elaborate) (yes i will. viserys is the antithesis of what a Man is supposed to be, daemon has 'second sons are faildaughters' syndrome) targaryens are constantly trying to recreate the previous generations, but there isnt a dynamic that fits them exactly. they arent rivals. they arent the warrior brothers that their father and uncle were. (who, to be fair, were also fucking) so they twist themselves into the only dynamic they see left, that they are lovers. viserys specifically falls deep into this. he sees daemon pursing anyone outside of him as a threat to their relationship. cause if daemon isnt his sondaughterbrotherwife, what is he? what are THEY? targaryens dont have normal sibling relationships, they are coupled up from birth. they have to be a couple, its the only way for them to make sense of their love for each other.

its fine for viserys to get into relationships outside of daemon, because hes the eldest son and has a duty to have heirs and continue the family line. its just bad luck he cant have those children with daemon, so he must look elsewhere. but daemon doesnt have that same expectation, to viserys, so daemon should be loyal to him. even if viserys isnt 'loyal' to daemon.

and its that grooming and viserys hold on daemon without fully letting him in that makes daemon go after rhaenyra. if he belonged to viserys because he was his younger 'sister' then certainly rhaenyra should belong to him in that same way. if viserys wont have him (atleast in the way daemon wants to be had) then his brothers daughter is the closest he can get. the closest he can get to viserys in a targaryen-socially acceptable way. but daemon doesnt take into account just how selfish viserys is. that to viserys, this is daemon breaking their arrangement. daemon and rhaenyra both belong to Him, not each other.

i hinted at it above but couldnt really fit it in, but theres also an aspect of an oedipus complex between them. viserys was too much of a girl to be the son that alyssa wanted, so when she had daemon she put all her attention into him. and daemon just happens to grow into the perfect mini alyssa. viserys would see daemon as his chance to gain the affection he was denied from his mother. while daemon was only four when alyssa died, and doesnt really remember her. viserys is the one that raised him. the one that made sure he was fed and bathed and clothed. the one that comforted him and held him. viserys is the only mother he can remember. and he wants his mother to Love him. in the only way he knows how to express love.

depends on how you see the taboo-ness of it.

its hard to tell just how the world of IF/Fates takes sibling marriage. clearly corrin can get married no problem to their siblings- but corrin isnt really traditionally sibling related to them, even if they see eachother as being siblings through the adoption or as step-siblings, they may be "not blood related enough" to not really upset anyone politically, potentially. of course, azura can marry corrin as their cousin, and azura can marry leo and xander as a step sibling, or takumi and ryoma as a step cousin which nobody really bats an eye at- but leo at least certainly does eventually see her as a sister all the same which does not effect his ability to marry her at all.

but, of course, the direct siblings cant actually marry eachother. so maybe it has to do with blood more than anything, maybe there's legal barriers for blood relations or maybe its just socially taboo, maybe its just a "we didnt really wanna do any of that" on the devs, like how nile's is functionally playersexual because his bisexuality can only ever really do anything with the player's choice to be interested in him, because no other characters who are men are allowed this.

it also matters how you interpret the line that revealed leo's feelings- that he has feelings for camilla beyond familial but must keep it secret. ive always taken it to mean more of his own lack of feeling worthy enough to tell her, but it could also imply, and i do believe it to, imply a level of social taboo or legal consequence. i think its likely a mix of both, where he doesnt feel like challenging society for his love because he doesnt feel like he deserves to have her, that he's not enough, and furthermore, he is so little that putting camilla through the struggles of that outcry would be hurtful to her, rather than being mindful that it would also be hurtful to him, so he chooses silence because of the fears of inconveniencing camilla, or also just making their relationship awkward if she doesnt return feelings. he's like usual, too afraid of failure or embarrassment or upsetting something thats going well enough to make any real choices.

so, i believe at least in my own thoughts on canon reflections of sibling incest in if/fates, at least for nohrians there's a level of taboo or even legal barriers that forbids specifically blood relation. i have no doubt that while its probably unlikely they were initially met with overwhelming violence, they probably were met with push back and potentially a strained relationship with the ever rule oriented xander. i dont doubt leo and xander would get in an argument which neither would win, hence my constant connection to leo simply moving out. i feel that arguments are inevitable between the two once garon dies anyways.

so, id assume their children probably grow up knowing. if they grow up with any kind of social situations with non-family they may even be picked on about it.

but i also dont feel like camilla and leo think of being married as being "more" than their siblinghood. i think they would still call eachother brother and sister- they are not "now lovers, once siblings" theyre siblings who are also lovers. the kids... probably know theyre married.

they probably just grow up with the assumption this is normal until they reach an age of teasing and and more complex understanding of social norms, like how kids with gay parents in a generally queerphobic country may grow up.

when i think about leo making hard discussions with his children i tend to think more about the worlds in which leo is NOT married to camilla, and is for a long time called "uncle". i think its inevitable that at some point leo sits forrest (and any other kids) down alone and has a very important talk when theyre older. its not an easy conversation to have, but there's not a lack of baseline. books certainly exist, dramas are always popular, narratives of cheating and fathers raising chilren that arent theirs are not unpopular older subjects for books, in fact, in times where things like your bloodline was important, that kinda thing was extra dramatic. so, he'd probably try to find a way to link it to more favorable popular culture or storybook it in a sense. i find this kind of leo more interesting to think about often, where he's put in a difficult situation with his own relation to others and needs to decide maturely what the best choice is. in his character, its one of his deepest flaws and a very painful situation to be in. i think he would eventually come to terms with himself that he feels that he cant live in a world lying anymore, or feels terrible as a father for not being truthful to a child who is old enough to know.

Idea for a story: ... I've brainstormed two (2) aus that involve Edgeworth with two different mutuals. The first one is the Eurovision au where vk just sends miles to represent germany in Eurovision and the second one is the ace attorney/παρά πέντε crossover me and @alalumin have been driving ourselves insane over. Out of the two, the first one is the most fleshed out but the second one i might actually sit down and write for one day. Thats about all the concrete story ideas ive had for this man so far dkskks. Everything else is just a jumble of vague angsty daydreams.

Unpopular opinion: hmmm a lot of people tend to ignore the fact that he was canonically suicidal after aa1 so i suppose that could count as an unpopular opinion? Like if he wasn't actually suicidal, the note meant that he straight up faked his death which makes him an even bigger asshole that he usually is, which in turn makes phoenix's misdirected anger and blame seem a lot more justified? Also a lot of people tend to ignore the fact that phoenix would NOT handle Edgeworth admitting that he meant the note literally well. And honestly im not really blaming anyone here. Their aa2 dynamic is sooo complex, Edgeworth hurt the people that cared about him by hurting himself and not all of them are ready to forgive him immediately and thats fine. I just wish more people would explore this whole thing instead of oversimplifying it yknow?

Favourite relationship: narumitsu obvs but honestly? The Franziska and Miles fucked up sibling relationship means the world to me, its like a really really really close second.

Favourite headcanon: does it actually count as a headcanon if its strongly supported by canon? Idk but he definitely avoids elevators as much as he can and considering that his office is in the twelfth fucking floor the man walks up a lot of flights of stairs. He must have thighs of steel skkskaka. Also i like to think that at some point after the investigation games he went to therapy and he finally (!) got some help for that unmedicated and undiagnosed canon ptsd hes been drowning in since he was nine years old. Also he got Pess because i love her. Maybe she is trained as a service dog. He would love her with all his heart and her death would kickstart a major depressive episode because god knows this man can't handle grief but in the end he could get over it. Maybe even get a second dog or learn how to deal with loss in a less self destructive way. Also i don't think he would ever be able to fully enjoy Christmas? Like sure his fathers death doesn't hurt as much anymore but i like to think that the nightmares rear their ugly head during the Christmas season. Sure, he IS doing better but some things never really go away. He can hang out at the prosecutors office or Wright anything agency Christmas parties without feeling utterly miserable but he doesn't enjoy the holidays as much as everyone else. Επίσης εκείνο το όνειρο που είχα δει ότι έχει κόρη και redemption arc, angst fic για την γενική κακομεταχείριση που τρώει από τον Παυρινό, το Ανδρέας/Νίκος καφενείο au το οποίο κάποιος πρέπει να γράψει σας εκλιπαρώ και το προαναφερόμενο ace attorney/παρά πέντε crossover στο οποίο εμφανίζεται ως μάρτυρας στην δίκη της Αγγέλας. Το πόσα από αυτά θα καταλήξω όντως να γράψω ποτέ είναι πολύ αμφιλεγόμενο τβχ αλλά το γεγονός είναι ότι μου τριβελίζουν συνέχεια το μυαλό.

Νομίζω όντως προσπάθησε να αγαπήσει τη Ζάνα. I'm becoming slowly open to being a hater of AA5. In that I want to know where the bad stuff starts. Because I actually liked the first case a lot.

Like it's fucking goofy but thats AA baby. The characterisation seems good. Athenas a ton a fun. Phoenix is trying to be the adult desperately but is being vicariously a little shit through Athena while also showing he's incredibly caring and protective for these kids he's acquired, Apollo doing the heroic thing in protecting juniper but being so much of a workoholic he reopens his fucking wounds in the process is in character. The case makes sense especially for a turtoiral where the complexity has to be limited. I like the mood matrix mechanic. The cut scenes are fine. The judge is himself and got a few laughs from me. I was genuinely shocked and worried when Apollo was attacked. Juniper is sweet, Ted isn't the best murderer ever but the tutorial case ones never are (with 2 glaring exceptions where they cheat by having them be the main villain) and the ending hook was interesting as was Athena's PTSD. Like this is around as good if not better than 1-1 and 2-1 imho. Their villians are kinda bland and ted was goofy enough to be fun. I don't like the 3d look but it's tolerable if you meet it where it's at. Like it's good I'm kinda confused where the issue is.

5-2 is feeling weird. I'm glad to see Trucy but she does seem more bland and the 3d design did her very dirty but I'm only at the very beginning.

From what I've heard of from later on Apollo kind of gets too many unpreivously referenced stuff. Which ok but I'm going to be honest that feels like it's maybe more an AA4 issue? Don't get me wrong I loved that game and I love Apollo as a character but there's very little to work with after it. There's the sibling twist which does need addressing (I'm aware they don't) and his mentorship with Kristoph but, I'd Apollo always felt like the one who Kristoph had the least bad infulence on. Like Klavier is a very explicit victim of emotional abuse and Trucy and Phoenix's lives were destroyed by the guy. Apollo while still negatively impacted felt like the one who could get over it the easiest. Then there's his rocky relationship with Phoenix which, like the ending of AA4 kind of implies he started to understand that especially with how he talks about him in court. Does it happen off screen? Yes. The lack of wanting to repeat information after the mason section (objectively a great section) means we never really get his reaction to learning that Phoenix didn't forge evidence and that he didn't give up on the law and was just biding his time. We don't see it but from how he talks during the final trial day it's pretty clear his opinion of him increases a lot when he realised what Phoenix was actually doing and actually going through. I'm actually going to make a post about how I'd fix that tbh. But yeah. I just feel like this game had to build on something with very little left to build on.

There is not any relationship between Owari and her siblings? Make one! Maybe she is afraid of failure because shes the oldest and thinks that she has to act unstoppable (showing that shes not dumb at all), maybe life hardened her and thats her trying to protect her family, maybe you can try and make the siblings more relevant in your story...

While there is not a lot of lore with her, that gives you the liberty of making one and making her a more complex character :D

I'm with you on the ability to make a character complex, but that isn't so much her potential. Akane herself has nothing going for her, and doing that would be "what if Akane was different?" It's actually fun to write characters like that sometimes, but it's not the character having potential as much as it is a personal storyline or idea having it.

I think that's because, from at least my point of view, what's being described comes across like this. It's less of "How would these things affect Akane?" and more, "How would the story change if Akane acted differently?"

That doesn't mean that's bad by any stretch, but it's just not what I'm aiming for in this situation. The story is about the characters acting as themselves and how they would be changed or transformed from that point. Not even via deep consequences or anything (Well, except Makoto, his entire storyline is how his actions and their results affect him).

Instead, it's about who they are fully, naturally, and how their genuine traits could be flipped in full.

I don't know if any of what I said makes sense, I just woke up. Hopefully, I got my point across, tho.

ohhhh the "what could have been" angle is really interesting...... im not personally a big fan of the "yearning to be normal" variety of angst that a lot of saiki fans write so i wouldnt gravitate toward that aspect of it, but like. they are certainly a far cry from normal siblings lmao - that just isnt really a tragedy to me since neither of them are even remotely normal people. they were never gonna have a normal sibling relationship, and thats what i like about it 😅

however, since kusuo does spend a lot of time wishing for his powers to go away, i wonder if he ever thought about how that would affect his relationship with kuusuke..... well. he probably assumed (correctly) that it would make kuusuke leave him alone. but think about how much lonelier kuusuke would be....... do you think it ever made kusuo hesitate. or maybe a vindictive part of him thought his brother would deserve to be alone for always thinking of himself as above humanity. but then what would that say about him.......

and kuusuke. we never really get a good look into his psyche but given how ecstatic he is that kusuo is stronger than him, i wonder if he ever wished to be normal...... in fact, that couldve been the reason he went to such a prestigious school - in the hopes of finding someone close to his level. but it didnt work...... and theres also the fact that he doesnt exactly have like. powers. maybe he never dared to hope for a world where he could be a normal person. yeah...... theres definitely potential there

and i really like compelling dynamics that are nonromantic too (which is why i originally made this post about the dynamic between two brothers lmao), plus i have kind of a weird relationship with romance and shipping in general (as someone who is polyamorous in an aromantic way). but i find that if you want to find people digging deep into the complexities of a fictional relationship, well. theyre gonna be the shippers. thats why i said "they would be a popular ship" and not "i would ship them" - it was meant to be more of a comment on how interesting they are as a duo, and how often people ship two characters who are as insane about each other as these two are, not to say that shipping them would be more compelling or that i necessarily think more people should ship them lol (although if it means i'll start seeing more alternatives to the typical interpretation of. entirely one-sided/borderline abusive relationship where kusuo genuinely hates kuusuke and wants nothing to do with him. then yk. i wouldnt complain)

and i think because these two aspects of shipping - the desire to analyze and elaborate on every aspect of a relationship, and the desire to see the characters kiss - arent properly delineated here on tumblr (especially since often times people are exploring the former via the latter), it can make people think these two things are inherently connected, and thus refuse to write or engage with deranged meta about sibling relationships because shipping them would be icky. i even had to actively scrub the shipping terminology from the original post because thats just how im used to writing about fictional duos, even though i have no real interest in seeing any of my faves kiss (and this pair is no different). unfortunately this isnt like ao3 where theres a separate tag for platonic relationships - you either tag it with the ship and hope people see your vision, or shout into the void and hope for the best

what if you were a genius scientist and there was only one person in the world who could compare to your talents, but he was better than you in every way and testing the limits of his superiority was the only thing that even remotely interested you. what if you were so powerful as to be considered inhuman and there was only one person in the world who understood that well enough to legitimately challenge you, and even though you know he'll never be able to beat you, maybe knowing you well enough to test your limits and take advantage of your weaknesses is close enough.

Every minor inconvenience to sansa is a crime but arya should take everything and even forgive sansa and its 'normal sibling relationship' no fuck you sansa stansa, its not. Sorry to dump this on you. But this fandoms hypocrisy gets on my nerves sometimes.

it’s cool fam, the fandom can be incredibly frustrating and having an outlet with someone makes it a little easier to bear.

I’ve always found it strange that even though arya is missing, presumed dead by many, sansa still finds it in herself to call her unsatisfactory as a sister when compared to myrcella and doesn’t miss her nearly as much as the other starklings. Like…you’d think there would be a moment of reflection that maybe, just maybe, having your family torn apart would make one realise that their sister wasn’t actually that bad because you shared the same blood and the same love and the same home. I guess not?

But in a way, that’s one of the things I like about book!sansa’s character. There’s clearly a complexity in that she’s framed as the archetype of a lady, and ladies are always courteous and good-natured, and sansa does exhibit those qualities, but she’s incapable of showing them to her own sister and that erodes the image of the perfect lady and makes her a far more grey character who’s capable of such casual cruelty and coldness as she is courtesy.

But sansa being a grey character with flaws isn’t something many of her fans want, even though that’s what makes asoiaf such a compelling series. Like you said, every slight against her is a crime. Every flaw is actually a strength. Every character except sansa has to rise above their weakness and get on her level, because she’s so amazing and flawless and character development only matters if it means she gets to be queen in the end. Barf. What shitty writing.

They’ve taken a three-dimensional character and made her a dull, two-dimensional stereotype and it’s such a butchery of literature. And so so boring like gross, go read some YA novels.

I was gonna send this ask days earlier (but then I forgot) but actually the Kaito scene I was referring to was the one in the factory. I just think it's a nice insight into Kaito, he knows he's fucking up and he's trying Really Hard Not To but it's not easy.

I really appreciate what they did with Kaito I think they could of made both of him into just...horrible irredeemable pieces of shit and not make him part of the main cast (or kill him off). But he isn't, and I like that the game doesn't write them like that.

Maybe I just care a lot about siblings in fiction but I really like Kaito because of how much he fucks up! Because he really does try, the game does Not let you brush him off as just a terrible brother.

Kaito is Hard to Talk To and is a Jerk but he's genuinely trying his best and carrying loads of baggage. You could brush him off but that won't actually...solve anything, Kaito will still be stuck where he is which is bad for both him and Miu.

Though, what I've seen Kaito is a more lukewarm character, not hated in the same way a certain glasses boy is but definitely not as liked as the rest and it's probably because 90% of the time he's Violence Protect Miu Violence ohmaybeIdocareaboutthesepeople Violence.

Though...Kaito is kinda in a situation where it's hard to write him outside of his relationship with Miu, because he as a character is just so centered around Miu and, again he is horrible at expressing his emotions which makes him seem less complex than he actually is.

Honestly like most people I wish they killed Kaito in Harmony instead of Miu. I can imagine him swooping in to protect Miu at the last second and getting dragged off, so he still gets killed by his goal to protect Miu while we get to see how Miu really really feels about his brother and, in a roundabout way, more insight into Kaito.

(I'm now also vaguely reminded of this one VN that had a character who's main flaw was not trusting anyone so they couldn't write him getting into any close moments with the other members of the cast so using ghosts (whole thing) they change the POV character in his route to him so they could keep that trait while still letting you get insights into his character.)

Ah, I know what scene you're talking about now!! My bad for getting confused, I had recently replayed act 9 and I was like akdkdkkdkg *foaming at the mouth about the slap in the gym :[*

But I see where you're coming from, particularly in this franchise with a lot of protective older brothers, we tend to see them in right for wanting to protect them little siblings and Kaito is just.... So wrong even when you understand where he is coming from.

I don't know about how the fandom feels about him despite the fact I do check the tag (in general, I don't think there's that much fan engagement for this VN </3), so I'll only talk about my thoughts about him. I tend to go through periods where I really like him and periods where he really gets on my nerves because of the stuff you wrote in the ask. He can be difficult in the sense you wish Takuma would confront him directly (but in true Takuma fashion, he's very mindful not to overstep his boundaries most of the time), but I think the fact one of the more consisten ways to raise his affinity is to leave him alone speaks volumes about how he's used to getting by, trying to solve everything on his own and not being used to be relied on by other ppl nor relying on others. He's also a kid who's really been neglected and has had to shoulder a lot of responsibility so it makes sense for him to be more than a little neurotic 😂 I think it's a feat for the writing to still be able to portray his proclivity for violence in a way that feels unsavory when this franchise is all action and fights (Thats one thing I did wish Survive had been able to pull off better. To give you feasible alternatives that aren't fighting for some of the plot beats, but that's for another post).

He does have his nuances, like how he's aware that he can be a pain in the ass and difficult to deal with. And wrong, most importantly. I think a lot about that Wrathful dialogue he has with Aoi where she's lamenting her final defeat as Plutomon bc... She was supposed to finally have the power and agency not to make mistakes anymore! And Kaito tells her there's no such a thing as someone who doesn't make mistakes and he himself has had to rely a lot on the others to tell him he's wrong 💔 (which really reminds you of how hard Takuma works to get him to go with the group to the amusement park in pt4, how he has to very timidly set the example for him in act 6 and etc...) I honestly like him a lot in Wrathful, I think it's where you get to see a new side of him even if in a really bittersweet way.

Speaking of how he knows he's in the wrong, I do like a lot that moment in Truthful where to raise affinity with him, you have to tell him to give Miu some space while they're looking for the Northern shrine. I think it speaks volumes about how his friendship with Takuma has evolved that he's at a point where he won't see it as a stranger sticking his nose where he shouldn't. He's just such a family little man, In a US vs the world mentality, it's interesting to see him grow to consider Dracmon family too and slowly reconsider who's important to him beyond that narrow social circle.

Switching Kaito's and Miu's places would indeed be interesting (and I Def Get where People are coming from with this angle for a myriad of reasons), yeah, but I also Love Aoi and Kaito as foils so I still like what we got 😂😂

sibling bonds

ok this is just kinda a rant about how the sibling bonds in stranger things are completely ignored because i just need to write all this out. also fair warning i am not very eloquent when writing so sorry about that.

something that I have always loved about stranger things is how interconnected all the characters were, they’re all connected to eachother through friends, love interests, siblings; they’re all like one big family and i guess thats really what struck me so much about it. and while i adore the found family themes in the show (and fan fiction lmao) i really want to see some more of the sibling bonds.

mike and nancy

mike and nancy are probably the siblings that i want to see the most of, but we are completely robbed of in pretty much every season. aside from short scenes with a couple exchanged lines the two barely interact, and they have so much potential! they’re probably my two favourite characters because I think they’re the most complex, they’re both very flawed and can be naive, headstrong and outright rude but they both care so much for the people they love. and i want to see them talking about their love affairs with the byers boys, about their trauma (especially about nancy losing barb because that was so glossed over even if season 2 had the “justice for barb” storyline”), about their parents and their loveless marriage, about anything and everything really. even natalia dyer said like four years ago that she wanted to see the wheeler sibling relationship explored further, but what do the duffers do? keep them apart for like the entirety of the following seasons. im honestly so disappointed that it looks like the pair will be separated this season again, and am just staying hopeful that they at least have some sort of communication throughout the season or have an emotional scene when they reunite. basically i just want to see them being open with eachother and i feel like if their relationship is not explored it would be a real shame and honestly (for me at least) a big let down.

will and jonathan (and eleven)

these two have probably had the most sibling interaction but its like only in season one and kind of in season two. tbh jonathan was really sidelined for like all of season three (and season two as well) but im hopeful that he will get more screen time in season four. and obviously will was also kinda sidelined in season three (especially after dominating the plot in season two), and I feel like both characters deserve so much more. i thought the jonathan and will thing was super cute in season one, and the little bits in season two, and i really want to see that extended especially if more byler stuff happens and jonathan catches on (though i do think he already kinda knows). i think also because will, jonathan and el are all outsiders and “different” i would really like to see the sibling bond there, but maybe thats just my soft heart wanting cute moments for the three of them.

lucas and erica

both these characters deserve more development and it honestly seems kinda racially motivated that they both have very one dimensional personalities. don’t get me wrong i love lucas and erica but in s3 lucas was just kinda there to be mike’s straight friend who teaches him how to make things work with el (because mike’s gay) and erica’s the sassy black girl who delivers (albeit hilarious) one liners and doesn’t really have much of a personality other than that. tbh as much as I want to see them interact and have cute sibling moments (which I think we’re potentially getting because they seem to be working together in s4) I want them to have their own individual character journeys as well. because I love them and i want them to have the same attention that the other (white) characters get. 

so in summary i just want sibling moments that last longer than 20 seconds and have actual depth and meaning, rather than nancy just shepherding round the kids with steve and mike going off to california and the byers splitting up and lucas and erica having like no scenes together. if the duffers incorporated the sibling bonds more it would honestly elevate the show so much for me (as I am sure it would for many others) and i am just trying to stay hopeful that they surprise us and give us these moments.

SO i just finished wonder egg priority and i think that with confidence i can say it has been one of my favorite animes like... ever ?? and not even from hyperfixation or obsession over it just... its so fucking real yet so simple in a way that i havent rlly seen shown in any other shows you feel ??

but first i wanna talk about how sexy the art and animation is real quick... HOMIE ITS SO GOOD LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT JUST... serotonin... the characters are all so unique and iconic and fun but not over the top in their designs yknow ??? they seem like regular every day girls but they stand out and theyre all sO CUTE !!!! also i love how the style is like this soft bubbly slice of life lookin stuff with bright happy colors and the most beautiful scenes you could find but they also have the SICKEST fight scenes complete with whimsical animal helpers and terrifying villains and crazy weapons unique to each character. and the animation. god DAMN shawty i am obsessed with everything in this show. i might make a post solely about the art later lol bc i wanna get into the other stuff.

so the themes in the show right ?? it starts just as this cute lil magical girl kinda deal but within the first episode we see that like.. oh damn... thats kinda heavy... tbh i was a little shocked and thought about stopping bc yknow bad mental health BUT i was so intrigued that i had to keep going and i am SO GLAD that i did. because this show just so beautifully discusses all these heavy topics in such an eloquent and artistically expressive way. and also like, , the juxtaposition of the charming childlike vibe with bright colors and 14 yr old girl protagonists against the dark themes of suicide and so much else,, i think is just perfect. bc a lot of heavy animes are more of the seinen genre and have some middle aged dude as a protag or make the entire color palette dim or offer little relief to the pain of these heavy themes right ?? but NO not wonder egg bitches B) because these problems arent just things that ppl face later in life or just problems that need to be talked about among adults or the edgy seinen watching squad,, these are REAL problems that face people of every age, gender etc and i think its awesome that wonder egg addresses that. some may cringe at the thought of their high schooler watching animes that discuss sexual harassment, suicide, abuse, self harm, eating disorders etc,, but in reality it is the most comforting thing i have ever come across and is basically jsut free anime therapy. because not only does wonder egg present these themes to the viewers as something real that happens to all kinds of people (making said people feel heard in a way that maybe they hadnt before), but it also makes sure to vanquish all of these forms of trauma. and the way the trauma is vanquished isnt always beautiful and it isnt always just magically gone with a poof. the struggles of overcoming or living with that sort of thing are shown in such a real and relatable way that addresses every hardship trauma survivors have to go through. and i just. god i cry bro. 

oh m y GOD and the lgbtq+ rep in this show ?? like shawty... as soon as i saw episode one i was picking up on some gay/lesbian themes but then again im sapphic and project that a lot so i tend to see that sort of stuff like... everywhere... but NE WAYS... episode ten made me FUKCING CRY BRO LIke i cant believe there was a whole trans character with a whole trans pride hoodie like LKGHKDGH my heart is just so.. so fucking full thinking about him. bc like yeah i know there are trans characters in anime but i feel like theyre always very ambiguous about actually being trans or not or erased or portrayed as a harmful stereotype or theyre constantly misgendered and still refered to as their assigned gender at birth and i hate it. HOWEVEr... Kaoru.. *chefs kiss* it was so amazing to see a character straight up say “yeah im trans” in such a casual yet powerful way bc i personally have never seen that before. and i love love loved how he went into his backstory and talked to momoe about gender bc i think thats what she rlly needed and that it helped her find herself and it makes me so happy oh my god,, and the way they talked about it never seemed forced or like it was the focal point of his existence yknow ?? like yeah he existed to help momoe overcome some of her trauma but he also just existed to be HIM yknow ?? also... personally, i headcanon momoe as a trans girl even though i dont remember it being explicitly stated plus the school scenes of her and stuff would seem like they suggest otherwise ??but,,, SHAWTY THE AMOUNT OF SUBTEXT and her complicated relationship w gender is... something i feel like a cis girl would not go through so harshly yknow ?? with all of the questioning and feeling detached from femininity or feeling like ppl dont see her as an actual girl and only like her as a guy or for her masculine traits,,, but dont take my word on this bc i myself am a cis girl but that was just my take on it as someone in the lgbtq+ community trying to educate myself on the transgender community :) either way,, wonder eggs portrayal of momoe and kaoru and the way that momoe becomes so passionate about expressing herself the way she wants to as a girl is just... good lord im gonna cry its so perfect,,,.so ... i just love this show way too much. i also am honestly super lost about the relationship btwn acca and ura-acca ?? bc i was gonna mention ura-acca as a canonically gay guy bc when i was watching i interpreted ep 11 as him being in love with acca and being jealous of Azusa (bc i mean,, they lived together (i swear to god there was only one bed in that apartment) and had a daughter together and def loved each other and also when Frill said they were husbands and then when ura-acca said he wasnt attracted to azusa but he was def jealous of their relationship ??) but then i saw somewhere that theyre brothers ?? which would make sense ig since they look kinda similar and accas daughter called ura-acca “uncle”.. but at the same time its ANIME SO THEY ALL LOOK SIMILAR and referring to gay couples as siblings is an EXTREMELY common euphemism soooo... IM JUST LOST HERE... but yeah i tried doing research and found different things so i cant say anything for sure >:( however,,, if they are canonically a lil fruity for each other... when frill refered to acca as ura-accas husband i imploded dude you never hear that sort of wording in anime.. but if theyre related i am so sorry. 

god this is so much longer than i planned it to be oops but i also love the theme about like.. relying on friends to help carry your weight but at the same time not becoming completely dependent on those friends and using their support to learn how to love yourself and rely on yourself yknow ?? bc that is exactly what healthy friendships look like. bc i think ai sort of had a codependency thing goin on with koito maybe ?? but now she has a whole squad of funky friends that are so so different but all struggle with different kinds of trauma and although they fight over it, they always get through it with each other together. and they push each other no matter what to be the best versions of themselves and they teach other that getting hurt is okay because theyre always gonna be there to pick up the pieces no matter what happens. they can give each other space when they need and adapt to meet each others needs but theyre always able to balance it out with their own needs and thats such a beautiful thing in friendships especially at their age like damn i wish i had that maturity when i was 14 but no all i had was depression. another thing is that through these friendships you get to see all the different sides of each girl; you get to see them being strong or a shining light to their friends when theyre hurting but you also get to see them being hurt and weak and allowing themselves to be on the receiving end of the comfort. their friendships allows them to have weaknesses but it also allows them to highlight their strengths and thrive off of each others. I LOVE FRIENDSHIP DUDE

next i wanna briefly mention some of the themes connected to suicide that ive noticed. a big one is the survivors guilt that ai feels once koito is dead. several times she screams that she wishes she couldve gone with koito and she dreams of a “perfect world” where they committed a double suicide. one of the main reasons for her troubles is that she blames herself for koitos death and feels like it should be her thats dead... but at the same time she feels like too much of a coward to do anything now that koito is gone. she just has all these complex and contradicting feelings that wear away at her in ways that ppl that havent gone through the suicide of a loved one could never imagine. a lot of the times when things like this are portrayed in media i feel like its more in a way thats meant to guilt trip those that have taken their own lives and paint suicide as this selfish sin thats unforgivable but... not only does wonder egg reject that idea and instead portray it as a heartbreaking tragedy with,,, so so many terrible reasons, but it focuses on the feelings of ai separate from koito without blaming her in any way. not once did i feel like the show antagonized koito or that ai blamed koito for doing any of this, but they simply mourned her loss and touched on ais reaction towards the event but separate from koito herself if that makes sense. and i think that discussing survivors guilt without painting koito as the bad guy is something so beautifully done in wonder egg that can really resonate with those that have lost a loved one to suicide and have struggled with these same things.

okay i think this is the last thing ill mention,,, but HOMIE THE PARALLEL UNIVERSE BIT AT THE END. I AM. OBSESSED. i am such a whore for anything about the multiverse okay n e ways...,, not only did this make a super epic trippy ending of season one and add a little bit more magical girl whimsy to the show,, but it had such a powerful message. from the perspective of og ai,, finding out that you killed yourself in another world is... i mean its definitely not a surprise but at the same time it rlly makes you think how close og ai herself couldve been to that point and what decisions led her out of that dark place in her life. if i were in her shoes i would be terrified and id cry bc the thought of going back to such a dark place and actually going through with something like that is my worst fear and probably something that ai fears too. but at the same time,,, think from the perspective of ai two !!! like yeah its true that theres this awful terrible version of ai that dies but theres also a whole version of ai that is a superhero magical girl fighting off monsters to save countless ppls lives !! and she has a badass lizard and a gang of awesome friends !!! at first i was worried that ai two would be jealous of og ai and compare herself to her and feel inferior but like.. THEYRE LITERALLY THE SAME PERSON AND CAPABLE OF THE SAME THINGS !!! and ai two realized that !! just within the span of one episode, she went from the version of ai who took her life,, to the version of ai jumping in front of a friend to take a bullet for them and save their life. and that just inspired THE SHIT OUT OF ME. i think that ai was sent another version of herself to sort of beat her own worst enemy yknow ?? those doubts and fears that shes no good or that shes that same bystander from episode one and that she hasnt changed at all. but getting to interact with her parallel self and see her grow was just what she needed to realize that while yeah sometimes the worst thing can happen and things can be terrible but on the other hand sometimes the most wonderful thing imaginable can happen because she has the power to do either. 

so im gonna go ahead and stop rambling bc i got all my thoughts out that i wanted to for this post :D but yeah lol i might make another if i feel like it sometime. long story short: this show is perfect and it is going on my favorite of all times.

Ive noticed people seem to admire ivan a lot and when they say “oh i relate to him” its their inner desire to find themselves in him somehow, to have his depth and complex world.

Remember in the beginning of the book ivan was more passive and wasnt introduced like the other two brothers were. He was the typical smart guy whos edgy and serious and all. And thats it until later on in the book. “See, i dont seem like much neither however i am complex like he is too. I am more than what i seem to be/what people give me credit for.”

hey anon first of all thank you for the ask!! second of all............ im gonna say it from the get-go, im not sure im entirely with you here but lets talk.

so first of all, i definitely agree that ivan is the most lowkey of the brothers when first introduced, ive talked about that before and ive also joked about dostoevsky perfectly illustrating middle child syndrome there lmao so im on board with you, not the biggest impression at first, but he comes back and makes up for it big time in my opinion (ive said it before but despite him not being my favorite character, a lot of my favorite chapters of the book are ivan-centric ones) and i have to say... i cant bring myself to agree with the portrait you paint of him. sure i have called him edgy and whatnot before, and joke about it, but to me its more of a persona, an image? he might look smart and edgy, but i think once you’ve gone through pro and contra, it’s really hard to still pin him down as that. he’s not being your typical idk reddit atheist or whatever, im not gonna get into that specifically but returning the ticket etc etc, he has some fundamental moral disagreements that make him imo, the opposite of edgy. one of his big arguments is that if suffering is necessary thats one thing, but why have children be a part in it? he goes on so much about how its unacceptable for him that children must suffer, that they are not only allowed to suffer, but that they have to, and you know how it goes theres more than one chapter centering around that. and like to me, someone who cares so deeply about something like that i just cant in 100% good faith call edgy. there’s also the quote where he talks about how the sticky little leaves and the blue sky are so dear to him, and he literally says “i will be drunk with my own tenderness” and i just think.... if after that chapter you still think of ivan as a cold, serious, edgelord type, you really should reread it, because ivan is so deeply caring and human, and i think book V really is the turning point in showing us that. ANYWAY lmao that went on a bit longer than planned but i just believe that like... it’s really easy to misread ivan, while after all he is simply 23 years old and confused and desperately searching for answers, and answers that will stand his moral test. unlike his brother, he can’t just thrive off faith, despite the fact that personally i feel like he wishes he could, but that’s where you get more of the “rational” mind feel to him, but that doesnt make him all edge and no point.

as for if he’s easy or not to relate to..... personally i cannot dictate that. ive said lately that being 23 myself, the passages on youth and youth carrying you through everything but feeling like it might all come crashing down in your thirties is extremely relatable to me. as someone who has some gripes with my own faith, some of his questionings are very relatable. and people can relate to his personality too, personally i do not as much, and being the first born of 3 siblings, i cannot relate to the middle child thing he has going on either, but im sure some people can. there’s many ways to relate to a character. that being said i do agree that maybe some people say theyre just like him while they want to be like him, im not doubting that this exists so yeah i’ll give that to you, but i dont think its necessarily bad. i think you can be like Oh i relate to his mindset, to this situation of his, and kinda. hope to absorb through osmosis what he does lmao

anyway not to drag this on forever, but at the end of the day i just think, ivan is SO much more than just an intellectual with his complex little opinion. just like his brothers, he has scars from a tumultuous childhood and the thing that plagues them all, which is: are you doomed to be a karamazov, is there no escape to it? he might seem externally more stable, but i think the more the book goes on the clearer it gets. ivan is not an entirely rational being, he IS very complex and deep for sure, and to me he’s also deeply human, with questions that i think a lot of people found themselves asking as well, and yeah idk how somehow along the way this became the Defending Ivan Karamazov Manifesto lmao but as i say.... just because i dont personally mention him as often as the other two, i still have so much deep love for him. also as for your last statement i honestly wont get into it because thats kinda besides the point and im still finding myself picking at ivan and katya’s relationship in each of my rereads i will say that it is a fascinating one to me though

For those of you who care (because DAMN my follower count has shot up recently; Thank you!) You can find me on Fanfiction . net under the name Kaze no Akatsuki. I do not post my fanfics on Wattpad (nor anything else for that matter) anymore because frankly, I don’t like the community. I am ALL for constructive critisism, will beg for it even, but even I only have so much patience for people who never have anything nice to say. I also, sadly, don’t post on AO3 though there’s not really a reason for that, I just have never visited the site, so I don’t know what to gauge of it yet. 

That said, here are the titles and summaries of some of my fanfictions if you ever want to check them out. I can’t post them directly here, due to Tumblr rules about word count, (my chapters are always no less than 4k words) as well as the fact that I don’t remotely trust their algorithm not to flag me. But I can redirect!

Note: I will NOT be posting the names/summaries of works that have been discontinued, are on hiatus, or are under revision. The only ones to appear here are completed or in-progress works. 

In the BLUE EXORCIST fandom: 

1. Captivity, an aimless kind of fanfic that just blows where the wind is taking it. I normally have some idea in mind, but this one is just sort of writing itself, if that makes sense. It focuses on Lucifer, Homare, and Beelzebub so far.

Summary:  An intelligence gathering experience forces Lucifer out of his comfort zone, in more ways than one. The threat of unholy war hangs in the air, but that isn't going to stop him from indulging in more...mortal, curiosities. A fic examining the relationship between Lucifer and his siblings, as well as, pressingly, his lieutenant. LuciferXHomare...mostly.

2. Unbecoming: A longer fic, in progress, which is my first ever attempt at dipping into the horror genre. And it is horror. I’m talking gore, lore, and more. If ever you wanted to get a good look at my (dark) interpretation of Mephisto’s demon side, this is the fic for you. Cannibalism included. 

Summary:  What happens when you put a big mind in a small box? A tiger in a cage with lambs? A demon in a room full of exwires? Lucifer wants to find out. Boredom is a demons constant companion, but even Mephisto can only take so much. How long before the demon loses it? A game of wills, wits, and psychological pressure has begun. In the game of chess, only one king can win. Checkmate. 

In the BLACK BUTLER fandom: 

1. Almost Human: The only oneshot I have ever wrote, and also the only T-rated fic I have, though I debated on that rating for a while. An introspective look, I guess, at Ciel (our Ciel) being haunted, literally, by his past. 

Summary:  When Ciel is plagued by visions of the late Vincent Phantomhive, he gets the feeling that his phantasmal father wants to tell him something. Unbeknownst to him, that 'thing' just so happens to have the potential to unravel the complex relationship he has with his demon butler - as well as reveal the darkest sides of himself.

In the HELLSING ULTIMATE fandom: 

1. Telepathic Heart: is THE longest fanfiction I have ever written, and it is complete (for now) with a sequel in the works. Note that it is AluSeras, though AluTegra is mentioned.

Summary:  Breathing some fresh life into an overused plot. Integra is mortal; there's nothing Alucard can do about it. (Not without risking the sanctity of the relationship he has with her anyway) And Mortals die. But sometimes, their ghosts just won't leave- and maybe turn up in some unexpected places. Mostly AluSeras, slight Alu-tegra, and Angst, because Alucard's a widow many times over.

And now, for the fics belonging to fandoms that are not a part of my blog, just in case you are interested in them:

In the SERAPH OF THE END Fandom:

1. Clip My Wings: I don’t actually know about the fate of this one, but I hope to continue with it. 

Summary:  Two friends, torn apart by time, space and species, now take refuge together with the outliers of the Moon Demon Company. It would seem all is saved, but Mika is not human, and he knows it - even if everyone else tries to forget. In the wake of their time spent together, will Yuu and the crew adopt a new attitude towards vampires? And what are the consequences of this? Anime-verse.

In the YU YU HAKUSHO fandom (which I highly recommend to my Blue Exorcist followers; if you know it, you will doubtlessly recognize the hints that are in Captivity): 

1. Words as Weapons: I haven’t updated this fic in so long, though it is still going. I merely have to get around to finishing the next chapter, which is easier said than done. Gosh I wish I didn’t always pick the most complicated character dynamics sometimes. 

Summary:  In which an unprecedented side effect of Yusuke's transformation threatens to either change his world entirely or leave it in a state of total devastation- though as long as Kurama and Hiei are there to pick up the pieces, each is equally as likely to happen. A slightly dark take on Yusuke's demon transformation, with a dash of Yaoi to add some contrast. YusukexKuramaxHiei.

Thoughts on Byakuya!

me, in tears: finally,

i am so sorry this took like, 3 days to write. i wanted to get my point across on how i exactly feel about this character in general

TD;LR: byakuya togami isnt a perfect saint, and probably will never be, but i find him to be an interesting character to analyze, and his character development should be appreciated a bit more than it seems to be.

and uh, its not like, perfect in captialization and stuff but look its late and i dont really mind rn

i remember my first thoughts on him when i played the first game were really negative. admittedly, i hated him when i played the game two years ago, hell my friend told me that apparently i even said something along the lines of “ew rich boy” 

but after kinda dropping danganronpa then coming back around and re-analyzing it all? i find byakuya to be one of my favorite characters. and it’s mostly because of his logical, analytical, and generally intelligent personality. that and the development he went through, but that’s for later.

personally, i can’t stand characters who are constantly letting their emotion’s guide their actions. i understand that character’s at time are going to have a weak moment that allows their emotions to judge the situation, that’s understandable and a good way to develop a character! but for all the time? i find it kinda annoying. not to say i hate those type of characters, i just dont really care for them i guess. whereas, obviously, byakuya is the opposite. he’s very logical during trials and investigations and mostly a big help to naegi along the way, whether or not he would allow himself to be considered a “helping person” in any sense but thats not the point right now. hell, during the 5th trial when hagakure had his “KYOKO’S A FUCKING G H O S T” moment i was practically banging my head into the table as byakuya was just “????? how are you this stupid?? how did you pass grade preschool??” (i know those arent the exact words or anything but i exaggerate for humor. even tho that probably didnt come off as humorous but anyways) and during other trials as well, he’s very blunt when it comes to conclusions and honestly? that’s needed in the situation they were all in. 

now yeah, that blunt sense of logic does backfire, main example being the 4th trial. but its the fact that every other situation that needed it, he provided it. and dont worry, im not forgetting kyoko’s logic in those situations, i appreciate her as well but it’s byakuya time. this goes the same for makoto, although he can have his moments of allowing his emotions to take his judgement’s control, it works for him in the end as development and that’s just who he is. 

the fact that he is logical and can keep his composure in most stressful situations is a big factor on what i appreciate about his character. although you could argue that this can make a character “weak” in the way it makes them seem less human, but for byakuya i think it works, especially keeping in mind his history and how that’s affected him. 

now i also wanna talk abt his history real quick: because i’ll be honest i enjoy diving into his situation and trying to figure out how exactly that affected him in the long run. 

so there’s the obvious factors: he was (probably forced) into a competition against his 14 other siblings, (whether or not he actually had an attachment to them before hand is up to you, but i personally like to think that he may have not exactly liked the idea of fighting his siblings to keep his title, but hey, thats just me, and i really read too much into things that dont need it) and he came out on top, which resulted in him gaining his superiority complex. but i like considering the tolls that took on him as an emotional result. because come on, byakuya hasn’t always been the emotionally withdrawn person we see him to be, i dont think that would be, in a realistic sense, humanly possible. 

i like really considering his background and how it all shaped him. i commonly wonder a lot of things regarding his family, seeing as its a major part of him. did he have to leave his mother to participate in the fight for his family name? did he even know his mother at all, or because of the way the togami family works, has he never known the concept of having a motherly figure in his life? did he know his siblings well before having to fight them in the competition, if so, how do you think he would have felt on initially exiling them from the family because he won? sure, its possible that he never knew his other siblings, which just made his success easier, but i have no clue on such things so, ya know. 

but that’s enough on his history and background. i could go on for hours about all the ways it could have affected him and his current mindset, but thats for another day. >:3c maybe idk tho

then there’s all the growth he’s gone through. tbh if he would have stayed the same as he was back in the first game i would probably hate him, but its also because of all the character development he’s went through that really makes me appreciate him. sure, in comparison to other characters its not a lot, but its the fact that he has changed from that snarky, lying, bastard from the first game into a less snarky, lying, bastard that he is now that really makes me like his character. 

i love the fact that by the end of the first game, he’s learn to appreciate the people around him and the relationships he has with them, i love how he grows and allows himself to care for these people by ultra despair girls and such. 

the fact that he was developed and grew up is what really makes me like him, that he’s grown to have what could be considered a protective sense over these people he went through something hellish with. 

and sure, he’s not a saint, i’m aware of that. i know that he could be a lot nicer than he is now, but in the long run and comparison to how he started, i’d say its a considerable leap. and dont worry, im not going to excuse his actions in the first game, or just his mistakes in general. ignoring all of that and even going as far to try and excuse it kinda just?? doesnt feel right if that makes sense. 

he’s a cruel dark hero, and that should be acknowledged when it comes to his character, but that isnt to say to ignore the growth he’s gone through.

anyways, im gonna end it here because this took me several days to put together and 2 rewrites to finish. i am so sorry anon, you probably wanted a super short answer with something like “yeah he’s cool i guess” and you got an essay. i am so sorry.
